Because there are so many obviously good cards in newer sets, combined with the fact that there are just more cards in Magic than there used to be, there are things which will avoid being on peoples radar

I see this spidey as part Master of Diversion and part stun counter removal, and the combination of them is pretty cool with big potential for card draw, even if the conditions are narrow

Its a way to keep the format "pure," pretending those cards simply never existed in the first place
